Objective:

Students will choose one "Spring Drawing Challenge" theme per art class.

Task:

Students will choose one of the twelve "Spring Drawing Challenge" per art class.

They should take their time.

Draw big and fill the entire paper.

Use details by adding different patterns, shapes and lines that we have learned throughout the year through the Elements of Art (This will help make your drawing more interesting to look at.

  • Please write a list on the back of each drawing the shapes and lines that you used to create your work of art. (First - Fourth Grade Only)

Be Creative, Be Neat, Make your artwork unique like you!!

SPRING DRAWING CHALLENGE THEMES

    • draw a bird

    • make a spring scene or landscape

    • fill the entire page with lots of flowers and colors

    • draw a butterfly garden

    • draw the Easter Bunny

    • draw your favorite Easter memory

    • draw something using the rainbow or colors of the rainbow

    • draw a picture of yourself

    • draw a picture of something fun you did with your family or friends

    • draw your favorite super hero

    • draw your favorite animal

    • draw your favorite cartoon character

Materials:

(students may use any materials that they like, but here are some ideas)

    • Paper must be at least 8.5 x 11 white paper, may be bigger.

    • Pencils

    • Colored Pencils

    • Crayons

    • Markers

    • Pastels

    • Cray-pas

    • Tissue Paper

    • Glitter

    • Sequins

THE SMITHSONIAN

Visit sixteen different interactive activities. Meet American artists, explore the American West, make a Puerto Rican carnival mask, paint your own Buffalo hide, and more. These activities highlight works from the American History Museum, the American Museum of Art, the Museum of African Art, the National Portrait Gallery, and other Smithsonian Institutes.

THE MET

The time machine at the Met offers kids a fun way to search their collection. While not a typical game it does making perusing the MET’s huge collection fun by allowing them to search by time period, big idea, or geographical area.
