SPRING THINGS
Mrs. Wood's Kindergarten
Students were inspired by mosaic works of art in order to create their very own mosaic Easter Eggs out of pre-cut squares of foam. This project increases fine motor skills, cognitive thinking as well as their creative ability.
Mrs. Meagher's First Grade Class
Students followed along with Mrs. Smith to create an Easter Bunny. Each part of the Easter Bunny was done by using step by step instructions in order to engage listening as well as their own creativity to make each bunny unique and their own.
Mrs. McNulty's Second Grade
Mrs. Meagher's First Grade
Students created their own "James Rizzi" inspired buildings.
Mrs. Mercurio's Third Grade
Students created baskets out of recycled Clorox bottles that they cut evenly spaced slits into. The students then chose different colors of yarn and weaved through every other slit in order to complete their basket. This project was collaborated by Mrs. Mercurio and Mrs. Smith while the students were taught about Native Americans.
Mrs. McNulty's Second Grade
This project was created in honor of their "First Holy Communion." This project is a longstanding tradition here at SMS. Each year every second grader chooses a picture of Mary to copy onto "shrinky dink paper" It is then glued onto a painted piece of wood that is be hung up as a plague to commemorate such a special day for them.
