Students will work with a variety of materials including but not limited to markers, crayons, paint, colored pencils, pastels, clay and craypa’s. They will also learn about various artists relating to society, recognizing art as a form of communication and expression. They will be learning about the Seven Elements of Art such as line, color, shape, form, value, space and texture, which will become more extensive each year they progress in school. Students will create projects highlighting the elements and principles of art and will explore drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture. Along with producing individual pieces of art students will be called upon to discuss, question and reflect on connections made by the arts in various ways, while collaborating with their classmates.
