There is a heavy focus on drawing in Art 1, especially in the beginning of the semester.
Students learn a variety of techniques such as contour drawings (drawing the edges) as well as learning the basics of shading. They work from observing real objects as well as from their imagination.
They also gain experience in using a variety of different media to draw with, including graphite, ink, charcoal, chalk pastel, and oil pastel.
