Skills include:

label illustrations
stretch out simple sentences
use interesting details
use C.O.P.S. (proper capitalization, organization, punctuation, spelling)
use detailed illustrations that match writing
include describing words (adjectives!)
include vivid verbs
organize writing in proper sequence
use graphic organizer to plan
include transition words
self-check to revise
participate during peer and teacher conferencing
include an interesting lead/hook
include an interesting closing
provide a title for book
