KnowHow2GO
The website (www.KnowHow2GO) has many tools for students including: interest inventories to match students with careers, career investigation, 4 year planners to ensure they take proper high school coursework, college search/application tools, financial aid help. Designed for students 9-12.
For the past ten years, Rockridge has had access to a program called Career Cruising. Our contract with CC has run out this year, and the district will be transitioning to a program called Xello. Xello is very similar to Career Cruising, but has extra, enhanced features for student use. Our plan is to fully transition to Xello this school year. If you are interested in using this great career planning resource before it is introduced in the classrooms, please see me for login information.
Xello offers a variety of career planning and college search tools including:
Interest Inventories; Skill Matching; Learning Style Assessments
Search for career specifics including salary, job opportunities, working conditions etc.
Match students with colleges that offer certain programs.
Resume support and lessons for students regarding post high school planning.

Black Hawk College Interest Inventory
Black Hawk will allow high school students to come into campus to use their career assessment tool called Kuder. An appointment would need to be made if interested in taking advantage of this tool. See Mrs. Bohnsack for help setting up such an appointment.
Job Shadowing
Although we do not offer a formal job shadowing program any longer, students are welcome to job shadow during the year if they desire. Typically, we ask that you set up your own shadow. However, if you have something in mind and you are unable to set it up yourself, the guidance office can try to help out. Students can use their college visit days to excuse a job shadow. If a visit day is not used, it will be counted as a parent request and will factor into the 10 day policy. Mr. Bizarri also does a training path presenter unit in his English III class in the spring that exposes students to the different pathways they can choose to pursue upon high school graduation. This is a valuable tool for students as they begin working on post-high school planning.
