Everyone has a role to play in suicide prevention
Two thirds of people who struggle with depression fail to get help. Many suffer in silence, feeling hopeless and alone. The warning signs of emotional pain or suicidal thoughts aren’t always obvious, but if you know what to look for, you can save a life.
Know the warning signs, which include:
Hopelessness
Rage, uncontrolled anger, seeking revenge
Engaging in reckless behavior or risky activities, seemingly without thinking
Feeling trapped – like there is no way out
Increased alcohol or drug use
Withdrawal from friends, family and society
Anxiety, agitation, inability to sleep or sleeping all the time
Dramatic mood changes
