You will find the attached general Chinese class syllabus and LOTE grading components and grading policy at the bottom of this web page . Also please note that Chinese class will not offer extra credit as a category in your gradebook. However, extra points will be given to some assignments, so you still have many opportunities to improve your grades.
REDO/RETAKE POLICY
A Redo/Retake is available when a student earns a grade below 70%.
Coursework shall be retaken or redone within the unit or within one week of a grade’s posted date.
Redo/Retake assignments may be different from the original assignment. The maximum score a student can receive is 75%.
MAKE-UP WORK/ LATE WORK
Definitions:
Make up work - Missing or incomplete work due to absences.
Late work - Missing or incomplete work that is submitted after the due date.
At minimum, the following guidelines will be implemented:
Make up work: If a student is absent, the student has the same number of blocks that they are absent, plus one to two additional blocks (teacher discretion) to complete missing work without penalty.
Late work: After the due date for an assignment has passed, a student will receive a grade earned up to 75%.
If a student earns below 75%, the earned grade will be assigned.
The final submission date for late work is one (1) week after the unit.
Students will receive a “Missing” grade in the Gradebook (calculated as a zero) if the assignment is not turned in by the due date. The grade will be updated according to the above rule after the coursework is received.
*For each Marking Period, all eligible assignments from the respective MP must be submitted by the Wednesday before the end of each MP.
*Extenuating circumstances will be handled on an individual basis.
ACADEMIC HONESTY
Cheating and /or Plagiarism will NOT be tolerated under any circumstances.
This includes copying another students ‘work or letting them copy your work.
Consequences include: Academic Referral; Parent Conference
Ms. Tang’s Classroom Behavioral Norms:
* Be on time to class.
* No Cellphone during instruction.
* Be prepared to class
1. Bring the supplies: Chromebook/textbook materials/ handouts (if assigned), notebook, pencils/ pen, eraser and etc.
2. Bring the homework if it is DUE on this class day.
3. Take care of your needs between the periods. Do Not go to the restroom without Ms. Tang’s approval. You are also required to carry the classroom pass when leaving the room.
4. Be seated when the bell rings.
5. Keep your cell phones and other electronic devices put away.
* Be engaged in the class and Show respect to other people
1. Stay in your assigned seat and do not get up without permission.
2. Please raise hands and answer questions in Chinese or in English as allowed by teacher. Don’t be shy to speak Chinese!
3. Be quiet when other people answer the question.
4. Small snacks and drinks with lids are allowed. Chewing gum is Not allowed.
Please don’t cause distraction. Please keep the classroom clean.
5. Please be respectful to other people who have different cultural background
Please respect different points of view and classroom property.
6. Be cooperative during the group activity.
Breaking the norm during any given class period may have consequences below:
