A VM member recently asked me about developing his CV in light of the fact that he had yet to have a job, was in Y11, etc..
Here is part of my response (added here as it might help other VM members get started).
Starting your CV (Curriculum Vitae) early enables you to build that document into the key to opening the door for future job (part-time whilst at school or later for future career jobs), securing scholarships and grant applications in the future. Don't be too worried about your not having too much to place there at first. This is a thirty-forty-year work in progress.
The information below might get you started.
I always suggest that you attempt to provide service across a number of different areas -- children, the aged, sport, organisations with a cause and the environment. There are small and big projects such tree planting and coastal clean up that will allow you to rub shoulders with other like minded teens and connected adults. You can start locally by offering to help an elderly person with their garden, help at church, join the eco-group... etc. You can also volunteer to help coach, for example, a junior basketball team, etc.
Get further involved with Virtual Merienda by volunteering to take on jobs such as recruiting/helping/involving younger students, helping make the video connections with other schools, compiling a list of volunteer opportunities for the other students, working on the VM website, and the list goes on...
