Universal Diplomacy YAMBA Programme
Description:
Universal Diplomacy (UD) is a Public Diplomacy framework developed by the Philippine Embassy to New Zealand. It initially focused on advance Philippine-New Zealand relations, leveraging the enthusiasm of the Filipino Community and New Zealand local governments - but is now expanded with a global reach encompassing other countries. UD’s individual volunteer-diplomats and networks are coordinated by the Embassy with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Office of Public Diplomacy, and a virtual Secrertariat.
AMBASSADORS
Volunteer Ambassadors
Individual Volunteer Ambassadors or #VAMBAs pursue a specific advocacy or advocacies – from among causes, for communities or in pursuit of commerce. Among the more popular advocacies are promotion of tourism, and the advancement of the language, culture and business opportunities of particular regions, provinces and cities. VAMBAs undergo a basic orientation, and explore with the Secretariat which advocacy(ies) they would like to pursue. VAMBAs can work individually or in groups.
Youth Ambassadors
Individual Youth Ambassadors or #YAMBAs are motivated university or high school students, who follow a structured program of development, somewhat similar to the Scouting / Guiding Movement. The program has 8 areas: Diplomacy, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Technology, Advocacy, Culture, Humanitarianism and Ikigai - DELTACHI. The latter is the integration of the other seven elements. Related activities of the student may fulfill the requirements of the areas. The UD Secretariat coordinates with the school’s administration for the introduction of the #YAMBA programme
