Master File Export from FCP

To Export an Uncompressed Master-quality file from a Final Cut Pro Sequence - for the FAV Archive & Senior Show

1.) Select all the clips in the timeline and apply a Broadcast Safe filter. This is found under the Color Correction section of the Effects tab.

This will prevent projector or monitor malfcuntions during playback of your file - even if you've already color corrected.

2.) Select all and render the entire sequence. Even if you've rendered before, the Broadcast Safe filter will require it.

3.) Select File-->Send To-->Compressor. This will open your sequence in Compressor.

4.) right-click or go to the Target menu and choose new setting. Follow the (long) menu ladder through Apple-->Formats-->Quicktime until you see the option for Uncompressed 8- or 10-Bit. Choose this. It will create a 'Job' rectangle inside your Compressor project.

5.) With this selected, open the Inspector window (Windows-->Show Inspector) This is where you can specify the output settings for the job.

Set your audio to 'pass-through' (presuming your audio is coming from the FCP sequence) so that it isn't recompressed in any way.

6.) Go to Target-->Destination. Set the folder you'd like the new file to be output to.

7.) Enter a filename for the output. For DP hand-in it should be Lastname, Firstname "Title" 8Bit (or 10Bit) FULL. This tells us who you are, what you project is called, what the codec is, and whether it has complete audio.

8.) Click Submit, and do so again on the pop-up.
