Farmingville School Library

Mrs. Tamra Velleca

I come to Farmingville with experience as a Library Media Specialist at the elementary level. I look forward to challenging our students to "think and work out of the box" as they interact with the curriculum. My role is to support the students and staff as we embrace mobile technology.

I am very pleased to be part of the Farmingville Elementary School. As the Library Media Specialist, I have the pleasure of working with the students and their teachers as we infuse technology applications and projects into the units of study. I will be working closely with the classroom teachers in all of the grades to ensure we have a continuous program kindergarten through fifth grade that meets the challenges we face in preparing our learners for creative problem solving.

In the Library / Learning Commons, the students get a well rounded experience of using both print and internet resources. They utilize the electronic card catalog to locate their book selections on a regular basis. Our parent volunteers are always available to assist teachers and students in gathering books on related research topics. These reserved materials allow the students to focus on gathering their research in an effective manner. We encourage our students to take part in the Nutmeg Reading Contests and Connecticut Loves to Read activities.

This year, my professional goals are to ensure the success of all my students to access Library Material for research and pleasure reading and embracing our mobile device student program. I look forward to sharing our successes throughout the year.
