Congrats to Marco Halbrook who earned a 2020 South Carolina Bi-Literacy Diploma.
Very proud of the Class of 2021 for speaking in front of the Joint Citizen and Legislative Committee on Children, who compile a report each year for the state legislature on issues that need to be addressed in the coming session. This is the second year in a row for many of them to testify on issues they are passionate about, ranging from their concerns over Climate Change to better funding for the arts. Look out for this group to change the world!
Legacy: The 2017 Scholars graduating class successfully advocated for passage of SC senate bill S.169: The Teen Dating Violence Prevention Act. There's still work to do, but we are so proud of their efforts.
These students were also recognized by the Richland County Council for their work advocating for teen dating violence bills in the house and the senate and had the opportunity to address the SC State Department of Education's State Board to advocate for more educational opportunities addressing dating violence.
