September - October

Grade 3 Social Studies centers on the idea that we are all global citizens. Using the series “Connecting with the World” as our guide, students will learn about 4 different countries (Ukraine, Tunisia, Peru, and India) and discover how different factors affect quality of life in these places. Students will also have opportunities to investigate and discuss local issues and current affairs occurring globally.

In September, we will begin with a unit on mapping. Together, we will explore the meanings of; hemisphere, equator, continent, country, province, and town. Students will then practice their own mapping skills as they design and create their our own representations of our school! Students will have a chance to decide how to best represent École Barrie Wilson School while they demonstrate an understanding of basic geographical skills that may include;
