In Science, we will be beginning the year with two closely related units called “Testing Materials and Designs” and "Building Things". Students will be able to determine what makes a "fair test" and examine the benefits of different building materials. This unit is always a favorite as students have the opportunity to perform many "hands on" tests such as;

Students will be able to determine what makes a "fair test" and examine the benefits of different building materials. This unit is always a favorite as students have the opportunity to perform many "hands on" tests such as;
- strength of various papers and building materials
- strength of squares vs. arches
- the strength of different types of beams and pillars
- different types of fasteners
Later in the fall, students will have a chance to put all this new knowledge to work when they are challenged to build a number of structures.
