During reading we practise retelling stories in detail as well as answering questions about what we read. Ways you can help at home are by hearing your child read and talking together.
Get your child to tell you about what they’re reading.
Who were the characters?
Do you have a favourite character and why are they your favourite?
What was your favourite / worst part of the story?
If you could change the title of the story, what would you call it?
What was the problem in the story? How was it solved?
Can you retell the main ideas in the story? (The beginning, middle and end)
