Mathematics at Pt England.

Every class has at least 4 hours of maths each week usually in the middle block of the day.

There is variation depending on the age, stage and needs of the children.

Planning and teaching is based on the information gained from regular assessment and analysis of data. All lessons include the teaching of knowledge, strategies and problem solving within a problem solving context. Yearly overview would cover all strands.

Lesson Plans include:

  • National Expectations

  • 6 monthly targets

  • 5 weekly plans.

  • Weekly plans.

  • Priority learners.

These plans are stored on class sites and are reviewed during and at the end of each planning period.

Numeracy testing is carried out 3 times a year or whenever needed. School wide data is collected and analysed twice a year and results are reported to parents.

Online Numeracy Resources are available to suit the learning needs of the children and are easily accessed. Each Team has a folder with resources and each class has a set of basic Numeracy equipment which is added to as necessary. Basic equipment should stay in the classroom it was purchased for.
