Frank Lloyd Wright
Frank Lloyd Wright was born in 1867 and is probably the most famous architect to have lived in America. Over his life he built hundreds of houses, many which were very influential on American architecture. Wright wanted his buildings to appear like they belonged as part of the land where they were built. His home are often low to the ground and use straight lines to form geometrical patterns. Some of Wright’s famous buildings include:
Falling Water
The building fits into the land perfectly. The river actually runs underneath part of the house. Much of the building, is made from stones that match those found in the river and the beams are brown like trees that are around the house.
Guggenheim Museum
It spirals out of the ground on the corner of a city block. When you step inside it is like entering a seashell. The roof is made of green glass and there are ramps that spiral throughout the building.
