African Huts
In African villages people often use natural materials that are locally available to build their homes. These huts sometimes have a roof made of grasses and walls made of mud bricks. Villagers that live in forested areas, build with harder woods as well as with bamboo and palms.
A mud house provides shelter from wind and rain. It also protects people from wild and dangerous animals. However, they are easily destroyed by rain water, and are often temporary homes which do not last for more than ten years. Most of the houses are not strong and can easily be washed away by floods.
