Narrative Writing:

• Talk in third person using (he, she, they, names)

• Use past tense (is, was)

• Structure of writing should include - Introduction, Problem, Action, Solution, Ending

• Introduction should hook your audience in and explain who, what, where, when, why

• Don't forget all of the ways we can make our paragraphs effective

  • Effective Paragraphs:

  • One key idea (usually in the first sentence with supporting details in the next sentences).

    • Sentences are connected and build up the MAIN idea.

    • A variety of sentence beginnings. [Use something else instead of: Then, When, After...]

  • A variety of sentence types. [Statement. Question? Exclamation! "Speech"]

  • A variety of sentence lengths. [SIMPLE or COMPLEX]

  • Specific words (clever vocabulary) chosen carefully and used appropriately. [JUICY Words, Topic Words]
