Course Description:
Social Issues primarily focuses on contemporary themes through the lens of sociology, political science, and economics. While the subject matter is broad in its choice of topics and scope, students will focus on very specific contemporary systems and cultural beliefs in a series of different units. The goal of the class is to create an opportunity for an application of the social sciences rather than a mere study of them.
Students are required to read, watch, and listen to different medias in order to find reliable information to create an intellectual and well informed opinion about several contemporary topics. Students will explore and analyze new subject matters, and learn to respect others’ opinions on those matters while developing their own.
