Parent letter

Dear Track Parents:

There will be a track parents meeting sometime soon(tentatively scheduled for Thurs. 2/27) around 5:00PM in, hopefully, the auditorium or my room W15. We will go over the permission and medical forms if necessary. It should be a short meeting to answer any questions you may have and fill out forms if necessary. If you cannot make it, please return the forms to Mr. Cummings/Mrs. Wiggers ASAP. Also, we need a physical form from any athlete who has not had one this school year as soon as possible. We cannot let anyone practice without a physical. Freshmen and any athlete who has participated in a fall or winter sport should already have a physical on file at the school. Practices are M-F beginning at 3:20PM and, depending on the weather, will last until 4:30/5:00PM. Some girls might stay later if they are working on relays or individual events.

Instead of a fundraiser, we ask that each family donate $20 to cover the costs of the team.(pizza party, senior gifts, coaches gifts, awards night, and other miscellaneous expenses) This solves the problem of collecting money at various times during the year. If this is a problem, please let me know.

We recommend that you check out the girl’s track page on the PND web site. It will have a schedule, information, and other links. I encourage you to read the information and our philosophy. I will send out e-mails during the season on bus times, and approximately, when meets will end.

If for any reason you need to contact any of the coaches, it would be best to contact Mr. Cummings. His home and cell numbers are (H) 309-367-4007 (C) 309-231-7014 or you can e-mail him at school.(j.cummings@pndhs.org) or home (jcumming@mtco.com)

If you are planning to be gone anytime during the track season, please send us a note telling us the last day your daughter will be at practice/meet and the day she will be back for practice/meet.

We encourage the girls to go to Mass in the mornings one day of the week. We realize that it is hard to make it in the mornings, so it is not mandatory, but we expect each of the girls to make as many Masses as possible during the season.

Unless it is an emergency, we ask that the girl’s stay until the end of the meets, especially if we ever have any home meets because there are many things that need to be put away. If you wish to take your daughter home from the away track meets, please bring a note and give it to me. This is for safety concerns. We are always in need of timers or helpers at the home meets.

The girls will chose some articles of clothing this year. I want to emphasize that NONE of the clothing is required. The girls can order none, some, or all items. I realize this can get expensive, so it is not mandatory that she have any or all of the items. Usually, there are girls who only order a couple of the items.

We want to thank you for allowing your daughter(s) to participate in track this year. We are looking forward to an exciting, enjoyable and successful season. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact any of the coaches.

John M. Cummings - Laura Wiggers
