TO MAKE UP MISSED CLASS TIME:
Spend the equivalent amount of time on any combination of interesting or fun activities that somehow relate to French. TAKE NOTES ABOUT WHAT YOU DO AND LEARN ON THIS FORM AS YOU GO ALONG, then submit the form for credit.
Some ideas are listed below, but be sure to check out the RESSOURCES (pour tous) page for lots of resources to explore – quickly scan those resources and pick something that seems interesting to work with.
Multimedia
– Watch a YouTube clip in French about something you're interested in
– Watch videos about French-speaking places
– Watch French movies or television shows : there are a lot available on Netflix now!
– Set your Facebook or phone or iPod or computer game language to French for the week
– Listen to French music (list song titles, artists, key vocabulary)
Surfing the Web (Be careful on the internet!)
– Explore the links from the "Ressources" page of this website
– Study something you found through one of those links (from the "RESSOURCES" page)
– Research a francophone place you'd like to visit
– Find a new site where you can learn/practice French
Reading
– Check out any book from our reading library and read it
– Find and read lyrics to French songs
– Read French articles or stories or poems online
Interpersonal
– Write a note to a friend in French
– Text or email a friend in French
– Teach a sibling or friend French phrases/vocabulary, or tell them about what you've learned in class
– Speak French when you're out and about in town, or whenever you hear someone speaking it
– Help a French-speaking student with their classwork or their English
Presentation
– Take or draw pictures and explain them to the class, or write about them, in French
– Make a French-related video or slideshow about something you're interested in
– Tell the class about something interesting you learned/read/watched related to French
Interdisciplinary
Find a way to combine French with what you are doing in another class. For example:
– Read an English translation of a French novel
– Learn about the history or culture of a francophone country
– Experiment with a French art form
– Share the insights of a French scientist or mathematician and apply them to your world
OR COME UP WITH YOUR OWN IDEA – JUST MAKE SURE IT'S FRENCH-RELATED AND FUN!
