◼ GED Math (GED NC050) Syllabus: Course Description, Objectives, and Student Learning Outcomes
What will I be learning in class?
We will work with you at your pace (as fast or as slow as you need), starting at your level to review all topics.
Some of the practice and lessons will be from the book, some will be on computer, and some will be with your instructor and/or a small group
You'll take mini practice tests at every step so you can see where you are and what you are strong with
What is the test like?
You will be able to use a calculator (except for the first 5 problems); you will also have "scratch paper" (a whiteboard), and a formula sheet; all of these will be provided at the testing center. (If you take the test online at home, there will be links to these tools on you computer screen.)
Quantitative Math Problems make up about 45% of the test
this includes: whole numbers, decimals, fractions, percent, ratio and proportion, central tendency, graphs, geometric measurement
Algebraic Problems make up the other 55% of the test
this includes: algebraic expressions and equations, linear equations, quadradic equations, patterns and
