GED NC050 -- GED Mathematics
This course prepares students for the GED Mathematics exam. Topics include review of whole-number operations, fractions, decimals, percent, geometry and algebra. Emphasis is placed on developing test-taking skills as well as developing strategies for solving word problems, graph problems and problems typically found on the GED and other mathematics exams.
Course Objectives:
Demonstrate skills in addition, subtraction multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
Demonstrate ability to estimate and round numbers.
Demonstrate skills in solving percent, ratio, and proportion problems.
Apply mathematical operations to solve simple and algebraic word problems.
Solve basic geometric problems involving perimeters, areas, volumes, estimation, and units of measurement.
Demonstrate test-taking skills needed to pass the GED Mathematics exam.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Apply computer literacy skills to solve mathematical calculations.
Identify operations given in multi-step problems.
Graph linear equations.
