Hiya and Salutations!!
I am very excited to be working together this school year. This is my third year here at Frederick Douglass High School. I'm a proud graduate of Bowie High School and attended Prince George's County Public Schools for my entire K-12 education. Following Bowie High, I won the Posse Scholarship to attend Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Posse is a leadership scholarship and program that forms students into a "posse" or group of 10 and sends them to a college or university together on a four-year, full-tuition scholarship with the mission of changing the face of leadership on college campuses and then in the workforce beyond university. Being a first-generation college student, that support system was incredibly important to my success. I graduated Bucknell with a Bachelor of Arts in History and my Secondary Education teaching certification for Social Studies. Over my time in college, I had the opportunity to teach in a variety of places. During my time at Bucknell, I taught high school in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania during student teaching. I spent four summers teaching middle school through a program called Breakthrough Collaborative in Pittsburgh and Boston. And I spent a semester studying abroad with a school placement in Bath, England.
Following graduation, I wanted to return to home to Prince George's County and found my way to Douglass. I am very happy to be back home in PGCPS. This is just a basic introduction of my professional and academic journey so far.
Personally, my interests and hobbies vary a lot. My favorite musical artists are Billy Joel and Panic! at the Disco. My favorite movie of all time is Back to the Future! I also enjoy hiking and am making it a goal to continue spending more time outdoors.
I look forward to getting to know all of you more and sharing more about me throughout the year in class!
