Redoing an assignment for a higher grade
Policy for redoing assignments:
1. Follow the directions and the rubric the first time you complete an assignment.
2. If you want a higher grade write a paragraph on the rubric explaining why you earned the grade you did. Paragraph must use the rubric as evidence.
3. Turn in the rubric and the assignment to Mr. Lord
4. Mr. Lord will decide one of two paths:
a. Student understood why they scored poorly and can redo the assignment on his or her own and turn it in for a better grade
b. Student does not understand the assignment and needs to stay after school with Mr. Lord on a Wednesday to be retaught before reattempting the assignment.
5. Students only have 10 days from the time work is handed back to redo the assignment.
6. There are a couple of exceptions:
a. Major tests and projects are not eligible for retaking
b. No work can be redone in the last weeks of the quarter.
c. Class Participation grades are not included for redo's.
Make-up work for excused Absence
If a student has an excused absence they will have two days to complete make-up work upon their return to class.
Students are expected to use the class calendar, Remind.com and Assignment sheets to figure out what work is missed. It is not the teacher's responsibility to directly tell student what was missed.
If student is unsure of how to do assignment they are expected to then talk to teacher to get more directions.
If student is unexcused on the day an assignment is due they will receive a zero per Prince George's grading policy.
