aimswebPLUS - AIMSweb is a program used throughout Perry Local Schools to check on students’ reading and math abilities and compare them to national norms. All K-2 students in Perry Local Elementary schools are tested using aimswebPLUS in September, December, and April of each school year. Results are provided at each benchmark.
Coaching Session - A meeting with the teacher and a specially trained coach try to find the underlying cause for a child’s struggles in the classroom.
Data Check-In - A quick check with the teacher and trained coach that occurs every six weeks to see if progress is happening or if changes need to be made. You will be informed of your child’s progress after each check-in.
Enrichment - An activity used to help a student that has already mastered a classroom lesson expand their knowledge while challenging them to learn more deeply.
Intervention - A specific, research based activity or process used to help a student grow and progress with a skill so they can eventually be successful on their own, without the intervention.
iReady - iReady is a diagnostic assessment used throughout Perry Local Schools to check on student's reading and math abilities and compare them to national norms. All 3-8 students in Perry Local schools are tested using iReady in August, December and April/May of each school year. Results are provided at each benchmark.
Panther Time - A time in the classroom when no new lessons are taught so students can receive intervention, enrichment, or other activities without missing any core instruction.
Progress Monitoring - Most often, AIMSweb is used to progress monitor students. A goal is set based on your child’s performance, and the student is then monitored frequently to see how they are progressing toward their goal. A graph is created to easily see their progress.
RtI - RtI stands for Response to Intervention. This is the program Perry Local Schools uses to closely monitor the progress of its students and to make sure that if interventions are needed, they are in place, effective and helping your child progress well.
Tier 1 - Your child is doing well with regular classroom instruction and no extra intervention is necessary. Enrichment may occur if your child is doing very well with a skill.
Tier 2 - Some intervention is needed on one or two skills. Intervention will happen several times a week, most often during Panther Time.
Tier 3 - Intensive intervention is needed to help your child be successful. Intervention will happen many times a week.
