Panhandle Pride

What is Panhandle Pride?

The first Panhandle Pride was a small potluck style event held on August 29th, 2015 at Gardner Park in Gering, Nebraska. It was planned on only three weeks notice, and drew approximately 130 people. This Pride event led to the creation of our non-profit organization called Panhandle Equality. Panhandle Equality has since moved Pride to Frank Park in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to accommodate growth in attendance and activities. What once started as a small potluck, has now grown into a variety of entertainment, with food trucks, local talent, choir performances, drag performances, community organization/vendor booths, and raffle prizes! Pride has a little bit of everything for everyone.

After a virtual Pride event in 2020, and a small movie-night Pride event in 2021, Panhandle Equality organized a 3-day event for the 8th Annual Panhandle Pride in 2022. Over 70 people attended the Drag Queen Bingo night (day 1), 300+ people attended Pride in the Park (day 2), 170+ people attended the Pride After Dark Drag Show (day 2), and a handful of people attended Love Simon (day 3). Panhandle Equality raised a total of  $2800 across these events! So in 2023, Panhandle Equality is planning another 3-day event!
