Doneta Schlaepfer
Treasurer
Pronouns: She/her
Hometown: Gering, NE
Doneta grew up in the Panhandle of Nebraska and has always been a strong alley of the LGBTQ+ community. From a young age, she witnessed how differently people were treated simply for being who they are. Those early experiences shaped her belief in fairness, dignity, and compassion-and sparked her lifelong commitment to standing up for human rights.
Today, that commitment has grown into a true passion. As Treasurer of Panhandle Equality, Doneta is excited to help expand the organization’s reach, strengthen community connections, and welcome more people into the work — whether as board members, volunteers, or participants at monthly game nights, craft nights, and community events.
Doneta is a proud mom to two winderful kids and has been married to her husand Josh for over 20 years. When she is not working or volunteering, Doneta loves traveling to new places and attending concerts. For fun: she has seen New Kids on The Block more than 15 times and she is always ready for the next show.
