Physical Education
In Phys. Ed. we find ways to move and stretch our bodies everyday. We have fun playing games and introducing new sports and skills so that students are exposed to a wide range of activities and sports. Students continue to develop their stability and locomotor skills while learning how to play fairly, be a good teammate and show sportsmanship. Students learn how to include everyone in play and how to show respect for one another. Importantly, students must learn how to follow directions and safety rules when participating in physical education and sport.
Students will participate actively and regularly in a wide variety of physical activities, and demonstrate an understanding of how physical activity can be incorporated into their daily lives;
Students will demonstrate an understanding of the importance of being physically active, and apply physical fitness concepts and practices that contribute to healthy, active living;
Students will demonstrate responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others as they participate in physical activities.
Students must have appropriate athletic shoes to wear in the gym. Non-marking soles and supportive shoes that they can tie on their own are important. Sorry, for safety reasons, no Crocs allowed.
Students are encouraged to wear clothing that is comfortable to them and allows them to move freely, especially on gym days (Tuesdays & Thursdays).
