The following fitness tests are done at the beginning and at the end of the school year. Improvement should be made during the year in each of these areas.
1 Mile Run- This test measures the Cardio-Respitory Endurance. With better cardio-respitory endurance a person's heart rate will be lowered which creates less stress for the heart during daily activites. It also increases the capacity to respond to extra energy demands.
Vertical Jump- This test measures Muscular Strength. Muscular strength is the amount of force muscles can generate in a short period of time.
Sit and Reach- This test measures Flexibility. Flexibility is the range of motion of a muscle or joint. Improving flexibility will increase athletic performance and reduce chance of injuries.
40 Yard Dash- This test measures Acceleration and Speed. Speed and acceleration are an important part of many sports.
Agility Run- This test measures the ability to start, stop, and change directions quickly. Agility is also an important aspect of many sports.
