The following deadlines are universal and apply to ALL speakers. (No exceptions or negotiations!) Failure to meet these deadlines will adversely affect your preparation grade and will result in being assigned to late backwork. Take the time to record these in your planner/calendar now:
Reserving Johnson Theater
(Deadline for all seniors: September 6)
reserve Johnson Theater at least once, and no more than twice, for your speech practice times using Outlook Calendar. Use the preceding link to see instructions.
Speech Orientation
each month there will be a speech orientation held in Landmark during Hx for a group of upcoming speakers.
September 6 (October and November speakers)
October 3 (December speakers)
October 27 (January speakers)
December 6 (February speakers)
January 9 (March speakers)
February 1 (April speakers)
8 weeks before your speech date
submit a formal topic proposal via the Google form. Before submitting your form, be sure you have read through the section of the website about finding a speech topic.
2 weeks before your speech date
submit a full (4-page, double-spaced) rough draft of speech to advisor
NOTE: If you miss this deadline, you will automatically be assigned to late backwork until you produce an acceptable rough draft.
No later than your speech date
share final draft AND bibliography with Mrs. Paul via Google Drive
In addition, your advisor may require other deadlines (outlines, bibliographies, etc.) All seniors will have an opportunity to meet with their advisors during Hx on August 30. This is a good time to discuss additional deadlines that your advisor may require.
