Unit 1

Patterns and Relations

"In this unit, students will explore a variety of situations involving patterns and change. They will continue to explore the rules of divisibility using number patterns. Work will include both expressions and equations. Patterns will be represented by relations and these relations will be used to make predictions and solve problems. Relations will be represented symbolically, graphically, and in tabular form. Knowledge of expressions will then be extended to equations. Students will learn that the solution to an equation is the number that can be used to replace the variable and make the equation a true statement. To help find solutions to equations, students will model and solve equations using algebra tiles." - Grade 7 Curriculum Guide
