As you will know, since April 2024 the NIHR Clinical Research Network has been transitioning to become the NIHR Research Delivery Network. We have now made changes to our Learning Management System NIHR Learn to reflect our new organisation. All learners accessing the system are now prompted to select their primary geographic locality from the 12 Regional Research Delivery Networks and update their information about their role in research.
The NIHR Learn profile fields were updated in January 2025. The changes to these fields mean that the first time you log back into NIHR Learn you will automatically be prompted to check and re-enter your profile information in a screen like the screenshot below. All the fields labelled with a red exclamation mark are mandatory and must be completed. A user tour will take you through completing each field the first time you log back in.
Once this has been done you can click on the Update Profile button. You can then log out of NIHR Learn (or access your updated Certificate by choosing the My Certificates option from the black menu bar at the top of the screen, or browse new courses if you wish).

The fields listed below are mandatory:
“What is your geographical locality in the UK?” - Select which of the 12 Regional Research Delivery Networks you are based in, or if you are based in Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland.
“In what way do you work for the NIHR” - depending on which option you select from the drop down menu, you will be given another field to specify further. For example, if you select “Working for an NIHR coordination centre, locally or nationally” the next drop down will have options such as “RDNCC”, “Academy”, etc.
“Do you have a professional registration in Health and Social Care?” - Select the health and social care profession you work within or specify that you are not registered to a health and/or social care profession.
If you professional registration is not listed, please select “Other Registered Professional in Health and/or Social Care”. This will open a text field where you can manually type your professional registration.
“Job Title” - Please enter your job title.
“Main Clinical Specialty” - Select your primary clinical specialty. If you have more than one, then please select on of them from the list and check the tick box below the field that says “I work across multiple Clinical Specialties”.
Every other field in this section is optional. Once complete, click “Update profile” at the bottom of the page.
