CT COLT Poetry Contest
Many students in grades 6-12 will have the opportunity to participate in the state Poetry Contest in which they memorize and perform a poem in either a heritage or learned language. Ask your child's teacher if he/she will be participating. Go here to view previous year's winners.
Yale World CLASS Program
NHPS continues to cooperate with the Yale Councils on International Studies to award high school students students credit for participation in the World CLASS afterschool program in a variety of less commonly taught languages, such as Japanese and Russian. International Trips
International travel is a life-changing experience! World language teachers often lead trips to international locations during April break. Contact your child’s teacher for more information. Contact the WL Supervisor for current information.
CT COLT Rhyme Celebration
Many students in K-5 programs will have the opportunity to attend this state celebration of the songs and poetry of the many languages we know and learn. This page has some video from past events.
Seal of Biliteracy
NHPS awards the “Connecticut Seal of Biliteracy.” This allows students with high levels of language ability in English and one or more other languages to receive a special “Biliteracy” seal on their diplomas and transcripts.
