World Languages Curriculum

The NHPS World Languages curriculum for levels K-12 is organized by thematic units.  Each unit builds to assessment tasks in reading, listening, conversational speaking, and writing that mirror experiences in the real-world.  There are 4-7 units per year, depending on the level. The themes of the units were created to be engaging for students, connect to the other subjects they are studying, and have opportunities to build understanding of the target culture and the world.

The first chart here shows the units at each grade lvel 5-12, the second chart  is the Skills and Content that students acquire by level.  The top of the chart describes the "proficiency target" skills for that level; the bottom of the chart lists the names of the thematic units for that level.
The third chart on this page outlines how  NHPS Curriculum units are designed to build up to the Advanced Placement test themes, beginning as early as kindergarten.    For more information about the curriculum units, see the files at the bottom of this page.
