All students eligible for a retake have the opportunity to earn up to a 4 on a retake.
Students scoring a 1 or a 2 on a summative assessment may be required to attempt a retake.
Additional learning and/or completion of assigned work must take place before a student is allowed to retake an assessment.

Some additional learning is required before the student is granted a retake.
Consider one of the Retake Forms for students.
Have students submit the original assessment/assignment with the retake.
Allow retakes on portions of assessments rather than retaking the whole test.
Make the retake different so students cannot just memorize.
Be flexible with options for retakes (paper/pencil, oral, digital, etc.).
After repeated retakes, take a step back and look for the source of the problem.
Parent communication can be an effective tool if the student is not following through with retakes or is repeatedly retaking assessments.
