Physical Education Tv

The videos for this week have physical activities plus an educational health component that includes information on muscles, bones, fitness components, and the brain!

Daily Fitness Activity for the week of 10/12--10/16:

Tabatas

Throughout this remote learning experience, these types of workouts have been favorite. They are brief, high intensity, and usually include all fitness components (cardio, muscular strength/endurance, and flexibility). Below are the Tabata workouts for the week. I've also included a soundtrack of "Uptown Funk" in Tabata form to allow you to make your own workout. Pick your favorite exercises and create your own Tabata! If possible, send along a video of your personal Tabata workout (don't forget to give it a name!) and I will share it on my website.

Daily Fitness Activity for the week of 10/19-10/23:

Sworkit Kids

Sworkit Kids is an exercise and fitness app aimed at students in elementary and middle school, though it can be used for students of all ages and even adults. The app guides students through exercise routines focusing on strength, agility, flexibility, and balance, such as doing the crab crawl, squats, or side plank.

You can do the workouts on any device, but easiest to download the app to your phone for a quick 5-minute workout!

https://app.sworkit.com/collections/kids-workouts

  • Click on the workout you would like to do (Warm-up, Strength, Agility, Flexibility, Cool-down)

  • Press "Select Workout"

  • Press "Select 5 minutes"

  • Press "Begin Workout"

  • If you would like music to play while doing your workout, press the music notes in the top right corner for your choice of playlists.

  • Then, complete your workout!

You can also see a sampling of a Sworkit workout during my recorded lesson this week. Check it out on this page: Fitness and Skills Lesson

Daily Fitness Activity for the week of 10/26-10/30:

Fitness videos this week are from a inspirational website called Athletes for Hope whose "mission is to educate, encourage and assist athletes in their efforts to contribute to community and charitable causes......whether they’re professional or amateur, young or old, all athletes have an innate desire to push the limits. They strive to achieve their full potential, elevate their sport and inspire others."

Included in the videos below are professional, college and Olympic athletes from around the world sharing their workouts.

See if you can complete all five workouts, doing one every day. For a bonus, fit in the last workout (Volume 7) as well!

Be stronger than the challenge, EES, we can do this!!

Daily Fitness Activity for the week of 11/2-11/6:

Let's keep the Superhero theme going as it will take a Superhero mentality to continue remote learning through the end of the year!! Pick out your favorites and try to do a workout daily, working towards that 60 minutes a day of physical activity.

Any workouts listed as "Tabata" generally are 4-minute workouts that include 20 seconds of very high intensity training followed by 10 seconds of rest.

In addition to the activity posted here, there will now also be a recorded lesson page which will include both fitness and skills.

Daily Fitness Activity for the week of 11/9-11/13:

Check out Mrs. Gauley doing the IronMan and SuperGirl workouts, and check back daily for more Superhero video workouts - Pics/videos of Mrs. G. meeting her 60 min/day (or 10,000 steps) physical activity requirement!

Submit your own videos doing your favorite Superhero workout (optional: dress like your favorite Superhero while doing it). Mrs. Gauley wore her favorite purple cape while doing the SuperGirl workout!

See options below or choose your own GoNoodle video on Youtube.

I've also included a mellow GoNoodle to start the day, and two others to help with refocusing during the day.

This is not GoNoodle, but very similar and is essentially the Sid version of the Cha-cha Slide!
