Roanoke: The Lost Colony Two video clips from the History Channel about the disappeared colony. Hear some of the theories about what happened to them. (General interest) This is a super page of weblinks about RoanokeA written account of Sir Frances Drake's visit to Roanoke, written by Ralph Lane, leader of the colony. He was reporting to Sir Walter Raleigh who had been given permission to colonize America by Queen Elizabeth I. The language is old-fashioned, but the story of how Drake left supplies and soldiers to help the colony was really interesting. Unfortunately, those soldiers were among the people who vanished.
