1. Materials
You are responsible for bringing the following to class EVERY day:
Your binder
Independent Reading Book
Language and Literacy/ History Folder
Language and Literacy/ History Notebook
Sharpened pencils, colored pencils and highlighters
Homework Notebook
2. Homework
Students are assigned literacy homework and independent reading each day, and social studies homework regularly. Write it down in your agenda and check the calendar on the website often to ensure you are doing the proper assignment on time. Homework is due the next day unless otherwise noted. If for any reason you are unable to complete your homework for an EMERGENCY or SICKNESS, please send in a signed note from a parent.
If you forget to bring in your homework, sign your name in the IOU Homework Binder with the date you will bring it in. If you repeatedly forget your homework, the consequences include an email home, a call to your parent or guardian, and/ or lunch detention. Chronic homework problems are reported to the office for disciplinary actions.
3. Grading
Grade 5 students will receive a standards based report card. Our goal is for every student to exhibit grade level understanding of the standards and skills we cover in each unit. Parents receive a progress report in early fall, and a Report on Student Progress (ROSP) each trimester.
4. Absences
Students are required to make up missing classwork and homework as per the Student Handbook. Upon returning to school, students should check the model binder to ensure they have all handouts and assignments.
5. Extra Help
If you need extra help, please stay after school to work with Mrs. Anderson. She will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:05 - 3:00.
