WINTER SESSION BEGINS DECEMBER 1ST.
will be offering academic support after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:15 for grades 1-6 during winter session. Students that participate in tutoring may receive after school meals. Students that register for tutoring can transition to the Crossroads program after tutoring. See the flyer for registration info.

Highgate Crossroads Class Descriptions
Winter Session 2025-2026 - December 1 - February 19 for Grades 4-6
MONDAYS
-COOKING AROUND THE WORLD: Want to explore the world through food? Join the Cooking Around the World club with Ms. D-W! We will be learning about different countries and making a famous dish from that country. It's a tasty way to learn and have fun! (grades 4-6)
-DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Sit down, roll the dice and get lost in the story told by your Dungeon Master, Mr. Landen. Fighting creatures, saving villagers, collecting treasure and more is waiting in this super fun and wild role-playing adventure and the kids absolutely love it! (Grades 5-6)
-GRANNY CLUB: Grannys Rock! Let us relax into ‘old age’ and share good times. Come and sew or learn a new skill that you can have for many years to come. Also, make a few goodies for a local nursing home. (Grades 3-6)
-SNOWSHOEING ADVENTURES: Ms. Erin will bring you out on a snow adventure using snowshoes. This is a good way to move your body in the winter and you can learn to master the elements! (Grades 4-6)
TUESDAYS
-BEADING CRAFTS: What a variety of beads we have! From perler beads to pony beads and beyond. You will have a great time making something new. (Grades 4-6)
-DIAMOND ART: The newest great craft is diamond art! So many cool things to make with beautiful diamonds. It is just like color/paint by number, but instead we will use shiny colorful diamonds. (Grades 4-6)
-HIGHGATE ACTORS’ THEATER: Ms. Ernie will be ready for you yet again for another fantastic season of drama! I wonder what the play will be this time? Join and find out all the fun that can be had. MUST attend both Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will likely be a few Saturday dress rehearsals when we get closer to the performance. (grades 2-6)
-LIBRARY HELPERS: After-school volunteers at the Highgate Library and Community Center can assist with program support, craft preparation, and library tasks like shelving. In addition to helping staff and patrons, this is an excellent way for young people to gain skills and contribute to their community. (Grades 5-6)
WEDNESDAYS
-HOMEWORK CLUB: Have some time to get your homework done before you go home for the evening. Also, get your reading time in so when you get home you can unwind. (Grades 2-6)
-WOOD BURNING: Ms. Steph is back with wood burning skills to share with you! You will have a chance to use different materials to make coasters, boards and more! (Grades 4-6)

-HIGHGATE ACTORS’ THEATER: see description above
-LIBRARY HELPERS: see description above
-SOCIAL SKILLS CLUB: All of the fun games and activities Arlee does at school, but the Crossroads version. Each week the games and activities we do together will be focused on skill building- impulse control, sustained attention, friendship, problem solving and more! (Grades 3-6)

-BLAST INTO ART: Join Mrs. Bellrose for a fun-filled artsy time! We will craft together and hit on some of the upcoming holidays along the way. (Grades 1-3)

-PUZZLE CHALLENGE: Ms. Virginia will challenge you every week with various puzzle activities. The activities will range from jigsaw puzzles and mad libs to word searches, and more! (Grades 1-3)
-VOLCANO MAKING: Want to erupt with excitement? Join the Volcano Making club with Ms.D-W! We'll build our own volcanoes and make them explode with safe, cool experiments. Learn about geology and have a blast! (Grades 1-3)
WEDNESDAYS

-WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS: The Highgate Public Library will join us for a self-help themed read-aloud followed by self care time. Some of the wellness time will include nails, facials, and soaks. (Grades 1-3)
THURSDAYS
-CONCOCTIONS: Ms. Erin will be ready to get messy while using our STEM skills. Some of the concoctions you will experience include magic muck, fantasy fossils, squishy balls and more. (Grades 1-3)
-HIGHGATE ACTORS’ THEATER: Ms. Ernie will be ready for you yet again for another fantastic season of drama! I wonder what the play will be this time? Join and find out all the fun that can be had. MUST attend both Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will likely be a few Saturday dress rehearsals when we get closer to the performance. (grades 2-6)
-RECYCLED RACE CARS: Ready to race towards fun? Join the Recycled Race Car-making club with Ms. D-W! We'll build speedy race cars from recycled materials and compete in thrilling races. It's a creative and eco-friendly way to learn and play! (Grades 1-3)
