Franklin Crossroads Class Descriptions
WINTER Session 2025 - December 1 to February 18 for Grades 3-6
BLOCK ONE (3-4 PM) MONDAY - THURSDAY
-ACADEMIC SUPPORT (GR 3-6): Need a quiet place to get your work done or get extra help with math, spelling or reading? Adults are available to assist you with your assignments, help you find materials you need and get extra practice with math or reading.
-COMPUTER CLUB (GR 3-6): Do you need to practice your math, reading, and spelling skills? Computer Club is for you. This class will give you a great review for testing using Typing Club, Freckle, Math Fact Lab, Prodigy, and other academic games.
MONDAY & THURSDAY TRANSITION TIME (4-4:15 PM)
-WIGGLE TIME (GR 3-6): This will be a time for all students to spend some time together playing games in the gym. They will be able to co-mingle with each other for a short period of time and get to know each other better while having fun.
MONDAYS BLOCK TWO (4:15-5 PM)
-GYM GAMES (GR 3): Students are going to the gym for some physical activity, playing all sorts of fun games. Bring all your winter apparel; if weather permits, we will go outside for some winter fun as well!
-MINECRAFT ADVANCED (GR 4-6): In this class, you will get to be creative with this "sandbox video game”, building to construct anything you can imagine. The game includes exploration, gathering resources and interacting with other gamers in the group for teamwork. Come and craft with us!
-WINTER CRAFTS (GR 4-6): In this class, you will be creating some unique arts and crafts that will include a Winter theme and much more. This fun class will give you a chance to create a weekly piece and explore different types of materials you can work with. Let’s get busy crafting.
TUESDAYS BLOCK TWO (4:00-5 PM)
-MINECRAFT BEGINNERS (GR 3): In this class, you will get to be creative with this "sandbox video game”, building to construct anything you can imagine. The game includes exploration, gathering resources and interacting with other gamers in the group for teamwork. Come and craft with us!
-WINTER CRAFTING (GR 3): In this class, you will be creating some unique winter crafts. This fun class will not only give you a chance to create a weekly piece but also explore different types of materials you can work with. Let’s get busy crafting.
-DIAMOND ART (GR 4-6): Back by popular demand! Create your own diamond art design that you can use to hang off your backpacks or give to a friend.
-GAME ON (GR 4-6): In this class, students will be able to rotate between board/card games, Just Dance, Wii, appropriate computer games and fun activities. This is a great social time to spend with friends.
WEDNESDAYS BLOCK TWO (4:00-5 PM)
-DIAMOND ART (GR 3): Back by popular demand! Create your own diamond art design that you can use to hang off your backpacks or give to a friend.
-LEGO CHALLENGE (GR 3): If you like building with Lego bricks, this will be for you. At the beginning of each class you will be given a building challenge. When finished with the challenge, you will have time in class to create and build something different each week.
-OVERHEAD ART (GR 4-6) (BLOCKS ONE AND TWO): You will have a chance to paint, and color, draw free hand, trace or use an overhead projector to create your art. We will be making all the artwork for the Annual Senior Citizen Dinner this February. Don’t think you have to be an artist to join us! Come and have some fun with us in this two hour class.
THURSDAYS BLOCK TWO (4:15-5 PM)
-GAME SHUFFLE (GR 3-4): In this class, students will be able to rotate between board games, Wii- in the library, appropriate computer games - in the cafeteria, outdoor games, and fun activities - in the Gym/Outdoors. A great social time for students to spend with friends.
-COOKING: PIZZA-PALOOZA! (GR 4-6) (BLOCKS ONE AND TWO): This two-hour class will be teaching students how to make pizzas, from ordinary to extraordinary. From making your own dough and pizza sauce, to using many different types of toppings and dough. There’s more than one way to make a pizza!
-LED CREATIONS (GR 5-6): In this class, you will learn how a simple circuit works. You will experiment with different ways to make some extra LED lighting that you can easily turn off and on.
