A student ineligible to complete a senior project due to a failing grade may appeal to the Senior Projects Coordinator and School Administration to still participate. Appeals will be considered by these parties together.
In order to appeal, students must:
1) Write a brief statement of appeal for why the student should be allowed to participate in the project, despite the failing grade. Essentially, the letter should document the steps the student has taken to avoid failing the course, as well as explain why the student feels his or her project contains greater educational value than remaining in classes for the senior project period.
2) Obtain brief letters of support from 2 of the student's teachers, including the teacher of the course that the student is failing, stating that the student should still be allowed to participate in their project. These letters should describe the student's effort in the course (especially the effort in the course that the student is failing), acknowledge awareness of the student's senior project, and support the educational value of the project for the student.
