E36 Flex Disc

Summary

Replace E30 flex disc with E36 flex disc.

Start Date: July 14, 2012

Odometer: 309,000 km

Total cost: $255.00

When I replaced my E30 transmission (Getrag 240) with an E36 transmission (Getrag 250), I discovered that the holes on the transmission's output flange were too large for the E30 flex disc bolts. To install the transmission, I was, therefore, forced to replace the E30 flex disc with an E36 flex disc. I had three E36 flex disc bolts already on hand, and ordered three more for the installation (in total, six are required). Strictly speaking, all six locking nuts should be replaced after each use, but I keep a very close eye on the nuts, and re-torque them after each track event, so I felt comfortable re-using some of the existing hardware.
