A boat carrying PUB staff monitoring the waters of Sungei Serangoon. .

A dam is built across the river to create the reservoir of water.

Rubbish on the bank of the river could

pollute the water.

Construction work nearby could pollute the water.

Polishing ponds to purify the water.

The beautiful water lily blooming in the

polishing pond.

Collecting water from the bridge.

Testing the PH value of the water.

Testing the dissolved oxygen in the water.

The well with the built-in pump. The cut-off wall beneath it separates the landfill from the reservoir.

Look at the flats in the background and the bridge providing access across the river. There are many people using the bridge including students doing the fieldwork as well as cyclists and joggers.

Look at the flats in the right background. Will there be littering and the litters washed into the river? The trees along the bank can help to hold the soil together and prevent it from being washed into the river. There are some construction work in the left middle ground across the river. Will it lead to pollution?

The presence of the pink apple snail

eggs indicate a healthy ecosystem

in the pond.

Active, Beautiful and Clean - we saw many cyclists at the Lorong Halus Wetland despite the rain.

Looking whether there are particles in the water.. seemed like a lot of algae in the water which gave it a pale yellowish green look. Presence of algae indicate the water is suitable for aquatic organism to thrive in the clean water

High amount of dissolved oxygen in

the water.
