I hope you are having a great weekend. My apologies, I did not get pictures this week but we did have a great week!
This Thursday(9/22) we have Curriculum Night in Room 2 at 6:45. I am looking forward to seeing all of the grown ups to talk about the wonderful year in first grade!
It is a McGovern tradition that each classroom has a special color t-shirt that we wear on Field Day, our annual Field Trip, and occasional spirit days throughout the year. While we do not know our class color yet, MEPTO is ready to take your orders. Please click here to order a t-shirt. We are committed to making sure all students get a shirt, so if this is a financial burden, you do not need to order, but know that your child will still be included.
This week:
In Reading we continued to work on realistic fiction. We reviewed letter sounds and reading the words: a, I, is, his, and see.
In Writing we continue to work on getting ideas onto paper remembering to make our pictures and words match.
In Math we worked on counting on. This strategy really works on being efficient problem solvers. Instead of counting all. start at the larger number and count on.
In Social Studies we spent a lot of time working on building classroom rules, learning how to be "whole body" listeners, and setting learning goals for first grade. Ask your child to tell you what it means to be a whole body listener.
Our new sight words this week are: we, like, the, one do. It is important that these words are words your child can read by the end of the week.
