Every student will be assigned a 30 minute small group time. Each week, students will leave their classroom at their assigned day/time to work with 5-6 other students who play the same instrument as them. This is the time where your teacher will teach you new skills on your instrument and make sure you are on the right track! Small group times rotate so that students never miss the same class two times in a row.
The entire 4th grade orchestra meets together one time per week for 30 minutes to work on playing as an ensemble! This is where we practice playing together and learning tunes we will present in our 2-3 concerts throughout the year. Typically each school has their large group class before school starting at 7:10 AM. Your child's teacher will send you a calendar at the beginning of the year.
After each week's small group, you will be assigned a short practice assignment to work on at home. We recommend you break up the assignment into 2 or 3 practice assignments, but it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to complete. Remember, practice is the only way you will improve on your instrument!
