Welcome to Leadership 101! From making class presentations to becoming the President of the United States, leadership is essential. Students who take this course will not only learn about different styles of leadership and study the qualities of effective leaders; they will also work to develop their own style and enhance their own leadership qualities. In addition, students will study group dynamics and work to improve interpersonal skills, speaking skills, and presentation skills on their road to becoming a better leader. YOU WILL be an active participant in this process. After all, leaders are not bystanders. Leaders LEAD and perhaps for some of you this will be your first steps to becoming a leader yourself.
Classroom Expectations:
1. Be on time, all of the time. Students will show up on time each day for class. Students will turn their assignments in on time or they will be given a grade reduction appropriate to the assignment. A good leader is always respectful of time.
2. Respect is the cornerstone of the classroom. Respect your classmates, your parents, your school, your teacher and your community. ALL Technology will be deposited in the hotel at the BEGINNING of class so as not to be a distraction to you or to others, you will pick up your technology at the END of class. A good leader earns the respect of those around them.
3. Be prepared to learn and participate. Students will bring a notebook, writing utensil and whatever else is required for class that day. You need to do what is necessary to know what you must bring to class and make sure that you do so. You also must be ready to participate, simply put leaders GET INVOLVED. Leaders are prepared lead, they have their materials ready so they can focus on providing leadership.
