Expectations of Students and Instructors
Hybrid Course Expectations:
Required Weekly In-Person Class Expectations:
Monday class meetings are required and count as part of your attendance.
We will review the week’s tasks, view demos, and draw together.
Required Weekly Canvas Module & Independent Work Expectations:
Weekly Canvas Log-on and participation in the weekly Canvas Discussion are required and count as part of your attendance.
Students will use Canvas to access learning material, view videos and assignment instructions, participate in discussions, submit assignments, and view announcements, messages, grades, and submission feedback.
Expect to spend at least 5 hours a week working independently in addition to the once-a-week in-person meeting.
Classroom Community:
The classroom is a community that we build together. The class dynamic depends on your energy, initiative, attitude, productivity, and willingness to get involved. You each bring something unique and valuable to the classroom -- whether your background, your questions, and your experiences with the material. You will have many opportunities this semester to learn from each other, and that will be improved through thoughtful collaborative interactions.
Netiquette - Keep these guidelines in mind when interacting online.
Take time to understand the context of a discussion before you post your thoughts.
Be careful how you phrase things. Online communications are easier to misinterpret.
Don't be confrontational, don’t swear, don't use disrespectful language.
Make yourself look good online. Know what you are talking about and make sense.
Use proper grammar and spelling at all times.
Be specific and helpful rather than hurtful or vague when giving advice about or analysis of someone’s work or opinion.
Don’t ever share student or instructor drawings, postings, or recordings with anyone who is not in this course. This would violate the code of conduct agreement.
Photography of Artworks by Instructor:
I occasionally select student work for documentation and inclusion in my student portfolio and for use as student examples. Enrollment in this course constitutes agreement to this documentation and use of images for this purpose.
Equity Statement
Anti-Discrimination Policy
The San Francisco Community College District is committed to creating and maintaining a community free of all forms of unlawful discrimination, including sex-based discrimination (which includes sexual harassment and sexual violence.) The District has adopted detailed Title IX and Sex-Based Discrimination policies and regulations addressing unlawful discrimination, including sex-based discrimination (which includes sexual harassment and sexual violence.)
Respect for Diversity:
It is my intent that students from all diverse backgrounds and perspectives be well served by this course, that students' learning needs be addressed both in and out of class, and that the diversity that students bring to this class be viewed as a resource, strength, and benefit. It is my intent to present materials and activities that are respectful of diversity: gender, sexuality, disability, age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, race, and culture. Your suggestions are encouraged and appreciated. In addition, if any of our class meetings conflict with your religious events, please let me know so that we can make arrangements for you.

Students may be withdrawn (W) from the course at any time before the last drop deadline if they
Miss 3 or more in-person classes in a row, or
Miss 3 or more Canvas discussions in a row, or
